To facilitate a premier cross-Pacific platform to deepen the long-standing friendship between Chinese and American botanists, share pioneering research advances, and strengthen interdisciplinary and international collaboration among plant scientists worldwide, the Botanical Society of China and the Botanical Society of America will jointly organize the “2026 Sino-American Conference on New Horizons in Plant Science.”
The conference will be held from 19–23 September 2026 in Tai’an, Shandong,China, under the theme “Future Botany in a Changing World.” We welcome internationally renowned scholars and outstanding young scientists to share scientific insights and find solutions from plant science to address the world’s major challenges, from food security to global climate change and ecological conservation, and to support the development and growth of young scholars, advance plant science for a greener and sustainable future. The conference will also draw on the profound historical and cultural heritage of Tai'an and its surrounding areas to showcase the beauty of Chinese Culture. Plant scientists from institutions worldwide, especially graduate students and other young scientists, are warmly welcome to come and participate in conference activities.

III. Conference Content
Approximately 24 in total. Academicians and distinguished experts in plant science and related fields will present their latest research advances by invitation.
2. Parallel-session Lectures
There will be approximately 30 keynote lectures, 60 themed presentations, and 40 young-scholar reports. Among these, the keynote lectures and 30 themed presentations will be by invitation only. The remaining 30 themed presentations and young-scholar reports will be selected from open submission of abstracts. Outstanding authors of selected abstracts will be invited to present their work onsite.
Selected overseas scholars whose abstracts are accepted will receive theexclusive conference support, including US$ 800 (for young-scholar reports) - US$ 1,000 (for themed presentation) honorarium to subsidize travel to China, free hotel accommodation during the conference, and complementary registration that includes the conference banquet and other meals. This support offers 15 slots for themed presentations and 10–15 slots for young-scholar reports.

3. Featured Forums:
Young PI Training: Distinguished experts will be invited to share their experience on research topics selection, team building and management, as well as interacting with young scholars.
Journal Insight Forum: Major journals of BSC and BSA and their publisher(s) will share ideas on successful manuscript preparation, journal development, and international collaboration in the new era via presentations and penal discussion.
Workshop: Distinguished experts will be invited to conduct targeted discussions on scientific frontiers, technological applications and industrial development in plant integrative omics, biotechnology and other related fields.
Commemorative Activities: A special memorial ceremony will be held to pay tribute to distinguished botanists Dr. Peter RAVEN and Dr. Zhengyi WU, in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the development of botanical science.
Sino‑US Plant Scientists Exchange Forum: Through panel discussions and free communication, brings together outstanding plant scientists from China and the United States, facilitating in-depth exchanges on frontier scientific issues, disciplinary development trends, and international cooperation mechanisms.
