1st round announcement-2026 Sino-American Conference on New Horizons in Plant Science

To further deepen botanical exchange and cooperation between China and the United States, and to establish an international platform that fosters interdisciplinary integration in plant science, the Botanical Society of China and the Botanical Society of America will jointly organize the “2026 Sino-American Conference on New Horizons in Plant Science.

The conference will be held from 19–23 September 2026 in Tai’an, Shandong,China, under the theme “Future Botany in a Changing World.” We invite internationally renowned scholars and outstanding young scientists to deliver talks and share the latest breakthroughs. The conference will also draw on the profound historical and cultural heritage of Tai'an and its surrounding areas to showcase the beauty of Chinese Culture. Plant scientists from institutions worldwide, especially graduate students and other young scientists, are warmly welcome to come and participate in conference activities.

III. Conference Content

1. Plenary Lectures

Approximately 24 in total. Academicians and distinguished experts in plant science and related fields will be invited to present their latest research advances.


2. Parallel-session Lectures

Approximately 30 keynote lectures, 60 themed presentations, and 40 young-scholar reports. Among these, the keynote lectures and 30 themed presentations will be by invitation only. The remaining 30 themed presentations and young-scholar reports will be selected from the submitted abstracts, and outstanding authors will be invited to present their work.

Active participation and abstract submission from all botanists and researchers are warmly welcomed!

Five parallel sessions will be organized covering plant science and related fields:

Session 1: Plant Diversity Research and Conservation in the New Era

3. Featured Forums:

Young PI Training: Distinguished experts will be invited to share their experience on research topics selection, team building and management, as well as to interact with young scholars.

Journal Insight Forum: Leading journals in plant science from China and the United States will be invited to share ideas on journal development and international collaboration in the new era.

Workshops: Distinguished experts will be invited to conduct targeted discussions on scientific frontiers, technological applications and industrial development in plant integrative omics, biotechnology, botanical garden management and other related fields.

Sino‑US Plant Scientists Exchange Forum: Through panel discussions and free communication, brings together outstanding plant scientists from China and the United States, facilitating in-depth exchanges on frontier scientific issues, disciplinary development trends, and international cooperation mechanisms. 


4. Abstract and Poster:

Deadline: 31 July, 2026

Guidelines:

(1) Abstract or Poster can be submitted according to the parallel sessioncategories ONLY in the system. E-mail submissions are not available.

(2) Please register on the conference website first, prior to abstract and poster submission.

(3) Abstract (500-800 words) or Poster in English. Please refer to the template provided on the website for the abstract.

(4) Poster: 120cm (height) x 90cm(width).
