The National Symposium on Plant Systems and Evolution was successfully held in Hangzhou, China from 7th to 10th November, 2014. The symposium was hosted by the Plant Systems and Evolution Commission affiliated to Botanical Society of China, and jointly organized by State Key Laboratory of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany, CAS, Zhejiang University and Botanical Society of Zhejiang.

Up to 475 researchers from around 112 universities and institutions from 28 provinces presented their latest findings in terms of plant systems and evolution, biogeography, speciation and genetic, functional genetic evolution and genome evolution in 20 plenary lectures, 58 oral presentations and 37 posters. The 11th Youth Symposium was also held during this meeting. Eight young scholars were awarded as the excellent reporters.
